The Canadian Produce Marketing Association’s Convention and Trade Show (CPMA 2023) took place in the afternoons of April 26 and April 27 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. CPMA is one of the largest fresh produce events in the Canadian industry, with over 300 companies exhibiting. It provided a unique opportunity for fresh produce industry leaders to enhance existing relationships and develop new business opportunities in Canada.

CTK Bio partnered with Star Produce to introduce home-compostable lettuce bags, produce bags, and thermoformed fruit and vegetable containers at the event. CTK Bio’s CEO, JK Park, stated, "We are excited to be in person at this incredible event. We have completed development of sustainable packaging solutions that can be adopted in the fresh produce industry. These solutions can be a game-changer as sustainable packaging continues to be one of the main trends."

During the event, many sustainable packaging options were displayed, such as paper packaging. However, the backyard composting packaging was the only solution that met the growing consumer demand for truly circular solutions that do not require recycling and yet are scalable.

CTK Bio is located in Surrey, BC, and is equipped with a fully automated manufacturing line and a state-of-the-art laboratory at an 11,000 square foot facility, providing research, development, and manufacture of biodegradable and compostable plastic pellets and other high-value materials from wasted by-products.

CTK Bio’s Earth Edition and Light Edition resins are designed to be biodegradable and compostable, and can break down in both managed and unmanaged environments, making them compatible with traditional plastic infrastructure.
